Favorite thing(s) about DPD?
My favorite thing about the Detroit Police Department is that with being one of the largest employers of uniformed officers in Michigan, there are endless opportunities within the department. With over 100 units, there's so much an officer can learn and so many new skills to acquire. The department also offers great opportunities for advancement.
Why should someone join DPD?
Everyone will have their own personal reason for joining the Detroit Police Department. For me, it will always be the fact that I am able to police in my own community. The community that I was raised in, where my children were raised and where my family and friends are still today. It is and will always be a great place to experience and learn true police work. With both the city and department being so diverse, officers are able to learn about other cultures within the department and in the field. This helps build an understanding of different perspectives and ways of living, that are not necessarily our own.
